Hiking - Burns Bog
So overall I had a decent weekend. My teeth are bugging me since I had some crowns put in and they are a bit wonky, I see the dentist on Wednesday so hopefully they can get it all sorted out for me. So I wasn't as active as I would have liked due to the pain, but I did get a decent hike in on Saturday.
I was planning to go back up to Grouse on Saturday, but I ended up running a bit late and I had to pick up the boyfriend so I decided to check out Burns Bog since it was on my way to Richmond and I had heard it was a good place to get some exercise.
I ended up doing a brisk 40 minute hike. I will be going back there for sure. There are enough hills to get a good burn in, but not so much that it is too challenging. It will be a great place to take my son, or to go on a bike ride.

Grind #1
So I completed my first go on the Grind and I am very proud! I have only done it once before when I was around 19 and I completed it in about an hour and a half. Today I completed it in 1:44:32 so that is pretty great!
It was very challenging and I kept thinking that I would never want to do it again, but also I was thinking that it will get easier each time I do it.
So my stats were (according to my fitbit) :
Time: 1:44:32
Calories: 550
Floors Climbed: 283
Steps Taken: 600
Helpers: Vega Hydration Powder

Gearing up for Summer!
So I have been doing pretty well overall. I have been holding steady around 171lbs for the past couple of weeks. I was around 155 so it is a bit disappointing to have gained, but I am still proud of my progress and I am never giving up!
Last summer I had the goal of doing the Grouse Grind 5 times, and I didn't even do it once. This year in order to kick my own ass into meeting that goal (and maybe even exceeding it) I have purchased a local's pass. This way I never have to worry about having cash on me (you pretty much have to take the gondola down) and it also gives me access to the mountain for days when I don't want to hike up. I can take the gondola up and hike around up there or have dinner at one of the restaurants (the bistro has an amazing beet salad!). I also bought a pass for my son, so I am keen to get him up there with me as well. I even have a friend who is going to hike with me sometimes.
I am planning to head up there after work and take my first stab at it. It might take me a long time to haul my ass up there, but I am going to give it a go!

The Hunger Experiment
So I have been doing the Beck Diet Solution. I got the audiobook from the library as I thought that it would help me focus more on my goals and get me back onto losing and towards my goals. I have gained over 10lbs and I am holding steady right now around 166lbs. This is a perfectly respectable number and I should be very proud that I have maintained a loss for over a year. If I am perfectly honest with myself I probably started my journey over 200lbs but I didn't step onto the scale until I was around 190 or so. Either way it is a significant accomplishment and I am very proud, but it is time to take it to the next level. I really want to lose the 20 some odd pounds I have left until my goal, and to be at a healthy BMI range.
On to today's topic. Today's step in the diet solution is to do a hunger experiment. The idea is to skip lunch in an effort to lose the fear of hunger and to help differentiate between hunger and cravings. I really do not like the idea of skipping a meal, and I like even less skipping my morning and afternoon snack. But one of the things that the CDs keep telling me is to not skip any of the steps so I am giving it a go. I don't think that I will find it all that difficult since I often have meal replacement shakes, but you never know.
I am going to report my feelings on here to document the experience.

On a roll
Today I woke up a bit sore, I really gave 'er yesterday with a good gym workout and in the evening an hour of rollerblading with my son at the rink.
Today I think I will take it easy with just a walk or bike ride to the library. I feel a bit of craving to eat junk, but I think that I can stay on track with some effort. My son is trying to lose a bit as well and I really need to be a good role model. He is getting close to the interested in girls phase so he wants to look his best. I told him we both need to stay active and it will all fall into place. Once I get my ski pass (he has one already) we will be on the slopes and burning mad calories!

Working off last nights treats
I am going to start blogging here again, I'm coming to you live from the elliptical. Last night I ate a bunch of sponge toffee and I'm trying to work it off here. It's day 4 back after 2 months of nonsense. I am hovering around 166 now so my goal for feb is to get back to 159.
Ski passes go on sale soon so that will help. As well I am doing the Vancouver stair climb for clean air so that is a gear motivation!
Anyhoo back to sweating!

The Dress
So in just over two weeks I head over to Toronto for my dear friend's wedding. Earlier this year I was so excited to be ordering a size 6. Well my body had other plans so I sadly admitted defeat and I had to return it and order a bigger size. The number doesn't matter, what matters is that I get to see my friend and be there for her special day. The new dress is way hotter anyway and I am going to look great in it. Here is a sneak preview, I will post more after the big day.
